Every generation has it’s own sound. And only their sound can cause the walls to tumble standing before them in their time. If their is no sound, the walls will stand. Find your sound.
This is the vision of Something Like Jericho. A band I’m part of. We began as a group of random people who came together to help out a friend’s fundraiser. But from then, a band and a new journey had begun. A group of friends who love to make music, love to worship and love to encourage others create a sound which could be similar to that at Jericho.
So far we’ve played at Wash Basin, Ahoghill Missions Week, Farm Fest with Brian Houston, Greystone, Steeple, Glenarm and Upperlands. And each place holds it’s on memories. I’ve really got close to the other guys in the band, and friendships have been built. This was a great opportunity to play and I’ve loved every second.
Now Andrew Farmer, the lead singer and frontman, is going to North Carolina, to Morning Star Ministry School for a year. But the future still looks good for Something Like Jericho. Timmy, his younger brother, feels this is a ‘God-thing’ and is taking the baton for the next while. I’ve always been frustrated playing in a Church Praise Band and felt limited to the restraints of volume, songs and people. But playing for SLJ has given me a freedom to play in a way where I can converse with God in my own way. I hope the band will continue, but only in God’s will, because it has been such a blessing.
